Vodafone Japan head-hunts NTT's senior VP

Vodafone

Vodafone Japan have appointed Shiro Tsuda, former Senior Vice President of NTT DoCoMo, as their next President and Chief Executive. Shiro Tsuda was the favourite to become the next president of NTT DoCoMo until Masao Nakamura was appointed earlier this year.

He will take up the post on 1st December and will be charged with turning around the fortunes of the 3rd biggest mobile operator in Japan.

Vodafone Japan have not been able to make any progress in dislodging NTT DoCoMo and KDDI from the number 1 and 2 positions. The extent of their troubles is reflected in the subscriber figures for July. While NTT DoCoMo gained 225,700 subscribers and KDDI gained 219,700 subscribers, Vodafone Japan actually lost 3,100 subscribers.
