Japan's on the UP! |
Recent government figures show that the Japanese economy is on the up. GDP rose 6.4% in the last quarter of 2003, resulting in an annual rise of 5.6%. Not only that but this time the signs are that it will be a steady and sustainable growth. Static consumer spending halted the past two mini-recoveries but this time consumer spending has increased five months in a row (at an average rate of 4.1%). There has never been a better time to do business with Japanese companies and Japanese companies are being more open and proactive about seeking partners. It is common knowledge that Japanese companies have moved production centres to countries where costs are lower. They are continuing to do so, as the number of new business partnerships between Japan and China, and between Japan and India show. But if you are not a company based in a lower production cost country there is even more reason to take note of the upturn of the economy here in Japan. Japan has always been heavily reliant on imports from other countries because there are some products that it is not geared up to produce, if the economy is growing, the size of imports will grow proportionately. Timing is always crucial in the business world, enter too early and there might not be a market, enter too late and the market will have been saturated. The consumer spending figures however indicate that after 13 years of recession Japan is hungry again and now is just the right time to jump aboard. |

Featured Product: PALATINOSE, the natural sugar |
PALATINOSE was discovered in 1957 as a natural sugar contained in sugar cane, honey, etc. It attracted worldwide attention because of its non-cariogenic properties, and became the object of research and development. (Name of substance: Isomaltulose) In 1984, Shin Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. succeeded in industrialization of PALATINOSE using its unique enzyme technology (Patent Pending). Since then, PALATINOSE has been used in various foods and sweets in Japan as a natural sugar not causing dental cavities. We continued to explore new possibilities for PALATINOSE, and have discovered that PALATINOSE have significant beneficial effects on the brain. In brief, PALATINOSE is a sweetener contributing to the health of both body and mind. Find out more about PALATINOSE |
