Fujikin Incorporated is a top manufacturer in the ultra-precision valve industry, supplying its products to customers in leading-edge high-technology fields such as space rockets, linear-motor trains, nuclear power plants, thermal power plants, semiconductor production facilities, chemicals and biotechnology. In particular, Fujikin has an 80% share of the market for the specialized valves used in Japan’s domestically produced space rockets, which the company developed as a nominated contractor to the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA).

Fujikin’s market share for semiconductor production device-use valves was 28% in 1985, but in subsequent years it has expanded rapidly to the point where it now stands at approximately 65%, giving the company an overwhelming position in this field.

These valves are designed to control the flow of processing liquids during the semiconductor production process. In order to prevent the occurrence of faulty products, two things are required: technology for preventing ultra-fine dust particles from becoming mixed in with the liquids and technology that ensures that no residual liquid remains after each process. Accordingly, Fujikin’s solution attempts to realize particle-free and dead space-free (preventing liquid residue retention) conditions through the use of specular (mirror surface) machining technology employing a direct diaphragm structure that eliminates the need for springs in the liquid contact parts.

Fujikin also leads the world in the development of computer-controlled valves. The company’s electronic valves occupy a 60% share of the market with a lineup consisting of two series of control valves, namely, the stepping motor drive AR Series, which is the only product of its kind in the world, and the proportional solenoid drive SR Series. Both types feature superb performance. The AR Series with a resolution of 8,000 is capable of ultra-high precision control, while the SR Series with a valve step response time of 0.1 seconds is ideal for high-speed control.

In addition to the above, Fujikin employs the most advanced technologies such as fine ceramics that combine superb corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance in its valves for use in chemical plants and exhaust gas desulfurization equipment. The company has also obtained a long list of patents both in Japan and overseas, and has established itself at the highest summit of the valve industry by developing a steady stream of original and innovative products.
