DO is a paper product manufacturer and the owner of the registered trade mark Kami Shokunin® (meaning “Paper Craftsman”). In terms of both facilities and technology, DO is a top-class company that produces a huge variety of items and is capable of handling everything in the paper products field from small-lot production of a wide variety of products to large-scale mass production. In particular, the company operates the world’s only desktop diary production line. This amazing line is capable of producing 365-day desktop diary pads at a rate of one unit every two seconds, and the company controls an 80% share of total Japanese production in this field.
At present, with the demographic trend towards fewer children and a growing number of elderly people progressing in Japan, the nation is experiencing a decline in the consuming population. This situation is giving rise a greater demand for small-lot production of many kinds of products as well as for higher product quality, while the speed at which consumer needs change is also becoming more rapid.
In order to respond to the above trends, we have completed an optimal arrangement of facilities, technology and new product development, with which we feel confident that we can provide full satisfaction in terms of safety, security, high quality and an appropriate response to customer needs.
In June 2003, with the dual objectives of maintaining stability and achieving further growth, DO moved into Room #410 at Creation Core Higashi Osaka. Further, in a move aimed at renewing itself as a creative enterprise, the company has newly established a Product Planning Room. In addition, with government support, we are participating in a joint industry-academia cooperative project promoting “research and development of new 21st century learning support tools” together with Osaka Kyoiku University. The first product to be manufactured using the only-one-of-its-kind-in-the-world fully automated integrated desktop diary production system was Toribia Hakase 365 Wa (Dr. Trivia 365 Stories). This was followed up by Waka no Shirabe 365 Ban (365 Tanka Poems) and Kyo wa Nan no Hi (What Day is it Today?)
Apart from this, by accepting interns on an annual basis, we are participating positively in a collaboration program between college students and companies exhibiting at Creation Core Higashi Osaka, and as a result we are developing unique products unlike anything that has existed in the market before. We committed to developing and launching new products in rapid succession, so please keep an eye on our future efforts.
